Player of the Matchweek

#MW24MOM
Eden Hazard
Age: 27
Height: 1.73m
Nationality: Belgian
Playing position: Winger / Forward

Very tough decision this week, but the votes are in from the panel and we feel Hazard was the best performer this weekend. Aguero was in close second scoring a suspect hat-trick and I'm sure if Monreal finished the full match for Arsenal he would've been a close contender for this weeks player of the weekend also!

An inspired Eden Hazard performance got Chelsea back to winning ways as they brushed past Brighton with a 4-0 victory. Chelsea were without a win in five, but within six minutes they were two goals ahead. Hazard's first coming within three minutes into the first half, shifting the ball to his right foot and then powering the ball past the keeper. (first half highlights below)

He was then ultimately involved in a potential goal of the season. Quick interchanging one touch passing from Chelsea saw the ball fall to Willian for their second goal of the match. He was a threat throughout the match never giving the Brighton defenders a moments rest and looked to be back to his best.

His second and Chelsea's third was a sublime bit of individual brilliance from the Belgian. He finished off an excellent mazy run with the defenders backing off, sending the keeper the wrong way and killing the game off for Brighton. Chelsea have now won 45 of their 76 away games against newly promoted sides in the Premier League, A joint high with Arsenal! (second half highlights below)

Eden Hazard has now scored 101 league goals, 65 goals for Chelsea and 36 for Lille. He has assisted 37 goals for the blues putting him above Zola (101) in all contributions for the club. Only Drogba (159) and Lampard (237) have more assists and goals combined than the Belgian, and if he stays with Chelsea I feel he may be able to catch Drogba!

Two goals from two shots on target and a game high of 92 touches Hazard was unplayable on the weekend! With the World Cup edging closer I hope to see Hazard in this form for his country. And if that wasn't enough, he gave the young kid his shirt at the end of the match.. what a legend!
