Player of the Matchweek

#MW30MOM

Chris Wood

Age: 26
Height: 1.91m
Nationality: New Zealand
Playing position: Striker

Back again! And this week it is an unlikely player you would've been expecting. Marcus Rashford had a really good game, as to did David Silva and also Kenedy of Newcastle. For me Chris Wood's contribution for Burnley edged it, coming off the bench to win the game in style.

Chris Wood did not start the game for Burnley, but who says you need to start to make the biggest impact? Ole Gunnar Solskjaer taught us that. Burnley have had an amazing season and are edging closer to 6th place in the Premier League as they're putting the pressure on Arsenal.

On the 61st minute on came Chris Wood for Burnley, there shape changed to accommodate his presence on the pitch. Five minutes later he found himself behind the West Ham back four, he held the ball up well waiting for support, a lovely weighted pass to Barnes enabled the forward to put Burnley 1-0 up.

After this he scored twice to wrap the game up for Burnley. On the 70th and 81st minute marks he was in the right position to put the ball in the back of the net like he has done the majority of his career.

Burnley have now recorded their highest points tally in a Premier League season with eight games to spare. This is a huge credit to what Sean Dyche has done for the club. Chris Wood is the first player to have contributed to three league goals since Steven Naismith for Everton in 2015.

Wood's quality shone through as he inspired his club to their 11th win in the Premier League. This is not what the fans probably expected from their club so they have a lot to be proud of. Wood was a good signing for them as he has helped the club and has contributed with goals like he has done his whole professional career.
