Marcus McGuane at the age of 19, has become the first English player to appear for the first team since Gary Lineker.
What do you know about Marcus McGuane?

McGuane's youth career from 2005-2017 was spent at Arsenal football club.

He was captain for the U18s and regularly featured for the U23s side. He signed for Barcelona B in January 2018.

The Midfielder has made 17 international appearances for England U17s-U19s, and three for Republic of Ireland.

Marcus McGuane was interviewed after coming on for his FC Barcelona first team debut in the 76th minute of the Catalan Super Cup victory over Espanyol.

During his interview he said "When the coach told me I'm coming on I thought just be calm and play my game and show what I can do"

He has gained experience playing for Arsenal in the Europa League and didn't have much to do on his debut. But he did impress a lot of spectators.

When speaking on being the first since Gary Lineker the 19 year old had this to say. "A lot of people told me when I signed that Gary Lineker was the last English person to play for FC Barcelona, So to know I'm next is a massive achievement"

"I need to carry on pushing on with the B team and get as many games as possible. And if I get any opportunities to go over to the first team, I've just got to show the boss what I can do"

To get an opportunity like this so early into his Barcelona career only shows how well he has settled in. I can only imagine he will continue to progress there and become a first team regular within the years to come.
