Player of match week 14
#MW14MOM
Wayne Rooney
Age: 32
Height: 1.76m
Nationality: English
Playing position: Forward / Attacking midfield
Mid week action over, 32 goals scored another match week man of the match announced. Again it was very close, Mo Salah came off the bench and was man of the match scoring 2 goals & Ozil assisted 2 and scored 1 and was named man of the match in his game.
But scoring a hat-trick is a special especially playing centre midfield and that's exactly what Rooney did last night. He started the match in a centre midfield role and controlled the midfield from start to finish.
His first came from a penalty, his initial effort was saved by Joe Hart and then the rebound was nodded in. He then rolled back the years with his second goal, attacking the space Rooney found himself in the box side footing the ball past Hart from a Davies cross.
His third was a sublime effort from within his own half (match highlights below) 58 yards out Rooney fired the ball over everyone and in to the back of the net. Rooney has now got 7 goals in 11 Premier League appearances for the toffees and I think he will easily get 15 plus.
What Wayne had to say about his 58yard strike |
Rooney's last hat-trick was approx. 2272 days ago which is the longest gap between two hat-tricks by a player in Premier League history and he has goal is the furthest out since Charlie Adam's goal against Chelsea in 2015.
Everton have now appointed a new manager in big Sam, and he will be looking to get the same performances out of Wayne Rooney.
