Amazing Mixed-Race Families

I'm sure most of us are interested in the evolution of identity. The question: Where are you from? Or What are you? Has become very complicated to answer.

Photographer CYJO matches our interest with identity, she takes full credit for the photographs in this article. CYJO has created a range of articles regarding race, ethnicity and heritage.

The definition of identity has evolved in order to adjust to a much broader definition of ethnicity and race, this is the effect of humans migrating and changing environments over time. The number of people who class themselves as 'mixed-race' has continued to grow over the past 15 years.

Below are some portraits of interesting mixed families:


(Credit: CYJO) Here we have the 'Valter Family', they have German and American citizenship. American-Indian, French, German, African-American and Bahamian is their ancestry. Languages spoken are: English, Spanish, German and French.

Welcome to the James Family, they are American citizens. Ancestries include: English, German, Filipino, American-Indian, Irish, Chinese, Dutch, Prussian and Japanese. Languages spoken are: Pidgin English [a mix of English, Hawaiian, Chinese, Japanese & Filipino], French and English.

This is the 'Casarosa Family', they obtain Korean, Italian and American citizenship. Their bloodlines are Korean and Italian. Languages spoken at home are of course Korean, English and Italian.

The 'Doyle Family' are American citizens. With an interesting ancestry including: Cuban, American-Indian, Creole, Irish and French. In their humble abode they speak English, Spanish and French.

This is just a pinch of what "Mixed Ethnicity" currently represents, taking into account that countries like China continue to modernize. How the mix of new cultures blend with longstanding traditions will be extremely interesting to follow.
