Finally back from the international break! This nations league is good for the smaller countries but i'm more entertained by the Premier League.
Probably the most criticised player next to Paul Pogba, Ozil put on a masterclass in Arsenal's 3-1 victory over Leicester. Apparently he never performs against the big teams; the five time German player of the year? I know right, it seems people do not want to accept he may just be losing a couple yards with his age.
Nonetheless, Emery has been trying to get the best out of Ozil since arriving at the Emirates. After a slow start and an own goal, Arsenal started to pick the pace up towards the end of the first half. Quicker passing, better movement, applying a lot of pressure, Ozil lead the Arsenal attack playing the ball out wide and then side footing the returned cross to make it 1-1.
He was involved in Arsenal's second goal with a perfectly weighted pass to Bellerin who squared the ball to Aubameyang to tap home. Arsenal's third which is potentially team goal of the season, from defence to attack, Ozil, Lacazette and Aubameyang made it 3-1 (match highlights below).
I bet you never knew, Ozil is now the highest scoring German player in Premier League history with 30 goals and he now has three goals in his last four Premier League appearences. We all know about his assists record.
So far so good for Arsenal in a transitional season, it seems as if the players have taken a shine to Emery's new style and way of playing. It was nice to see Ozil back to his best and Arsenal back to scoring great team goals.
Can Ozil continue this form? Comment below
